Privacy Policy
1. Overview
The ModeBRIDGE app is a companion app for the ModeBRIDGE controller system. It is designed for use by adults (18 years of age or older) who own and operate the associated hardware. The app enables monitoring and control of vehicle systems including climate, power, tanks, and engine start via boost mode.
This app is not intended for use by minors. Do not allow children to use ModeBRIDGE without proper supervision. Some versions of the app can trigger vehicle systems including engine start functions when paired with a remote start system.
2. Account & Data We Collect
ModeBRIDGE requires an account to use cloud-based features (remote access and push notifications). You may register with an email address and password, or sign in using Sign in with Apple.
Collected and stored on our servers:
- Your email address (or an Apple-anonymized relay address if you use Sign in with Apple)
- A hashed password (never stored in plain text; not applicable for Apple sign-in)
- The unique identifier(s) of hardware devices you have claimed
- Your device's APNs push token (for offline push notification delivery)
- Your notification preferences and alert thresholds
- An app presence indicator (whether the app is currently active on cloud)
Stored only on your device:
- Authentication tokens (access token in memory; refresh token in iOS Keychain, encrypted)
- Wi-Fi network name and password for your ModeBRIDGE controller (stored in iOS Keychain, encrypted)
- Cloud connection settings (server hostname and port)
- Historical temperature and power readings from your ModeBRIDGE
- Your in-app display preferences (temperature units, layout, color scheme)
Transmitted through our servers during use:
- ModeBRIDGE sensor readings (battery state of charge, tank levels, temperature, shore power status, rain sensor)
- Control commands you issue (climate settings, light controls, vent position, etc.)
3. How Data Is Used
All data is used exclusively to operate your ModeBRIDGE account and ModeBRIDGE controller:
- Your email and password authenticate you and secure access to your devices
- Sensor readings are displayed in the app and used to trigger notifications you configure
- Commands you send are relayed to your hardware
- Your APNs token enables push notifications when the app is closed
- Notification preferences are used by our servers to determine which alerts to send
We do not currently use your data for advertising or analytics, or for any purpose beyond operating your account and device.
4. Data Storage & Retention
On your iPhone: Data is stored in iOS Keychain (credentials) and app storage (settings, history). It is removed when you delete the app or delete your account.
On our servers: Account information, device associations are stored on private cloud servers we operate. Sensor data is relayed in real time and is not persistently stored on our servers beyond the last-known value retained for immediate display.
On our notification service: It stores your APNs token and alert cooldown timestamps only. No sensor readings are retained. APNs tokens and notification preferences for devices that have not been active for an extended period are automatically purged from our servers. APNs tokens are also removed automatically when Apple indicates they are no longer valid.

No data is shared with advertising networks, analytics providers, or data brokers.
6. Push Notifications
Push notifications are sent by our servers when your app is closed and a configured alert condition is met (e.g. low battery, rain detected). You can disable all push notifications or configure individual alert types within the app. Disabling notifications in the app prevents the bridge from sending pushes regardless of iOS notification permission settings.
7. Security
- Passwords are stored using a one-way hash — we cannot recover your password
- Authentication tokens are short-lived and refreshed automatically
- Device credentials and Wi-Fi passwords are stored in the iOS Keychain using system-level encryption
- All cloud communication uses TLS 1.2 or higher encryption
- Firmware downloads are validated using cryptographic checksums before installation
- The app does not currently include analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or advertising frameworks
8. Age Requirement
ModeBRIDGE is intended for users 18 years of age or older. The app can control vehicle systems including engine start functions.
9. Account Deletion & Your Data Rights
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account within the app. Deleting your account:
- Permanently removes your email, hashed password, and device associations from our servers
- Immediately clears all retained data for your devices from our servers
- Removes your APNs token from our servers
On-device data (history, settings, Keychain entries) is removed when you delete the app from your iPhone.
To request earlier removal of your data without deleting your account, or if you cannot access the app, contact support@modebridge.app and we will process the request promptly.
10. Website & Waitlist
The ModeBRIDGE website (modebridge.app) offers a waitlist for people interested in the app. If you join, we store the name, email address, Storyteller model and year, and phone platform you provide, whether you opted in to product-update emails, and your IP address (used only to limit spam submissions). This information is used solely to email you about ModeBRIDGE's launch and availability — never for advertising, and it is never shared. Every waitlist email includes a one-click link to remove yourself, or you can email support@modebridge.app to be removed at any time.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the app's data practices change. The current version will always be available at this URL and the effective date will be updated at the top of the page.
